TAHINI

Tahini paste is crushed sesame seeds. Used extensively in Israel to make a Tahini dip and part of a "Meze" platter. In Turkey it is served as a desert, a spoon of tahini, mixed with a spoon of ice water to make it more manageable and than a spoon of honey. Dip your bread into it and you have a quick delicious desert.

Serve 8 to 10

TAHINI

1 cup tahini paste
3/4 cup cold water
3 cloves raw garlic (or 5 cloves roasted garlic)
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 
1/4 tsp salt 
 

  • Place tahini paste, water, lemon juice and garlic in a food processor till it form a creamy consistency. If too thick add slowly a teaspoon at a time of water.

  •  When it has the desired consistency, pour it in a bowl to be part of a Meze.

TIPS

To make the sweet spread of Tahini and Honey.

Mix the Tahini with the oil from the jug. Mix 3 tbs Tahini with 1 tbs water. When soft, add 3 tbs honey and mix. Spread it on bread for Breakfast or as an easy end to a family meal.


Serving suggestions:
 In sandwiches for lunch 
As a starter with salad and fresh crusty baguettes or crudités.

As part of a Bruschettas tray and decorate with chopped cucumbers
As a sauce for meat, fish and vegetables.
