UPSIDE DOWN APPLE CAKE

This cake is what you go for when you feeling cold and in need of good old fashion warm pudding.

Upside Down Apple Cake

Apples

1 tbs butter

3/4 cup sugar

4 apples

 

Dough:

1/2 cup sugar

2 eggs separated

11/2 tbs cold water

1/2 cup flour

1/2 tsp backing powder

1/2 tsp vanilla.

125 ml (1/2 cup) fresh cream

  • Use first 3 ingredients. Butter pan, sprinkle with brown sugar, peel and slice apples, place in bottom of pudding dish in layers, until dish is about 1/3 full.

  • Bake at 180°C (350°) till apples are partially soft. Remove from oven

  • Make dough: cream yolks and sugar till creamy, add water, flour and backing powder, vanilla and lastly the beaten white eggs.

  • Pour dough mixture on top of apples and bake in oven at 180° C (350°) for about 30 min or until brown.

  • Run knife around side of pan to loosen cake. Place heatproof serving plate upside down onto pan; turn plate and pan over. Remove pan. Cool for 30 min. Serve warm or cool. Store covered in refrigerator.

  • Serve with cream.
